Orphans Improvement Program
Although Lotus Travel has assisted approximately 10,000 Chinese orphans find permanent loving homes over the past decade, many still remain. In order to improve their quality of life, we have been participating in various charitable projects, hoping to make a difference in their lives. Lotus Travel’s most recent project—The Orphans Improvement Program is devoted to improve living conditions, sponsoring trips to different Chinese cities, covering medical expenses, launching nutrition programs, and providing financial support for orphanages in China that are most in need.
Lotus Travel has been working closely with the directors and staff at the Liuzhou Social Welfare Institute (SWI) in Guangxi province since June 2005. There are 295 orphans are currently under the care of the institute, in which approximately 80 percent of them are handicapped or mentally disabled. Our staff in China actively volunteered at the orphanage last summer to take care and spend time with the kids; besides, Lotus Travel’s China branch office constructed a brand new library in coordination with the Liuzhou SWI in early 2006. The library is equipped with sufficient bookshelves, cabinets, reading desks, audio aids, books and computers for the orphans to utilize during academic researches and exam preparations.
Much more needs to be done for local Chinese orphans and they certainly need your continuous support. You too can help change the orphans’ lives by joining Lotus Travel’s Homeland Heritage Tours.Lotus Travel donates two percent of the standard tour cost to our Orphans Improvement program.
