Located on the South China Sea and close to the Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions, Guangdong province has large outputs of sugarcane, rice, tea leaves, peanuts, tobacco, pineapples, papayas, bananas and star fruits. With a population of 67.89 million and 179,000 square kilometers in size, Guangdong is also the home province of Sun Yatsen, the Father of Modern China.

Regarded as one of the most famous regional cuisines in China, the Guangdong cuisine employs 21 different cooking techniques, including deep- frying, stewing, stir-frying and much more. Some local favorites include roasted piglet, dim sum, snake gruel, shark's fin soup, drunken shrimps and braised sea prawns.

Guangzhou

Legend said that five fairies in colorful clothing visited the city on five different colored lambs to bring along blessings and good harvests to the residents, and Guangzhou was known as "The City of Lambs" thereafter. With a historical background of 2,800 years, it is the provincial capital in Guangdong, and at the same time possesses great sceneries of nature and fabulous cuisine.

  • Baiyun Mountain

    Surrounded by wonderful sceneries, its major peak has an elevation of 382 meters. Many resorts have been built along the Baiyun Mountain, as it has become one of the hottest vacation attractions for both locals and foreigners.

  • Lotus Mountain Scenic ZoneSituated approximately 45 kilometers southeast of Guangzhou, the Lotus Mountain Scenic Zone has spectacular sceneries to offer its visitors. During the Opium War, the mountain was used to defend the area against British invasion; thus, it is also known as the Great Wall of Guangzhou.

  • Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall

    Built in 1929 on the former site of the building where Sun Yatsen became China's Provisional President, the hall has more than 12,000 square meters of floor space and approximately 4,700 seats. This elegant hall is often used for cultural performances nowadays.

  • Liurong (Six Banyan Tree) Temple

    Constructed during 537 AD, the temple contains the tallest ancient Buddhist statue and flower pagoda in Guangzhou.

  • Chen Ancestral Temple

    Currently the site of the Guangdong Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts, the temple was made up of nine halls in six courtyards and covering more than 10,000 square meters when it was originally built; all the families with the last name "Chen" that resided in Guangdong province in 1890 contributed to the construction of the temple.

  • Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of the Nanyue King

    Over 1,000 historical and cultural relics during the Western Han Dynasty are currently on display in this museum. It is certainly a perfect site to explore the dynasty's history, civilization and military tactics.

Shenzhen

It is a fast-paced and prosperous city due to its closeness to Hong Kong. Besides an important economic center, Shenzhen is also a popular tourist city, which contains various new theme parks.

Zhuhai

Situated next to Macau, Zhuhai is surrounded by hundreds of outlying islands, thus earning the name "City of Islands".

  • Yuan Ming Xin Yuan

    This attraction is the duplicate of Yuan Ming Yuan in Beijing, one of the summer palaces during the early Qing Dynasty. Besides the imitation of the imperial royal garden, Yuan Ming Xin Yuan also contains classical western style architectures.

  • Royal Hot Springs and Spa Resort

    Relax in the resort and try out various special hot springs pools, including coffee, wine, Chinese herbal and waterfall hot springs.

  • International Aviation Exhibition

Zhaoqing

Approximately 90 kilometers away from Guangzhou, Zhaoqing is said to have the most beautiful natural sceneries in the Guangdong province.

  • Seven Star Rockeries

    This fantastic limestone landscape is situated in the Xinghu Lake and is liken to the ones in Guilin.

  • Dinghu Shan Mountain

    Rated as the "Evergreen Treasure Island", the Dinghu Shan Mountain is the home of over hundreds of animals and over thousands kinds of plants. It is certainly the best scenic zone for those who are in love with nature.

Qingyuan

Well known for its delicious chickens, Qingyuan is a popular city for sightseeing and vacation.

  • Qingxin Hot Springs and Spa Resort

  • Feilai Gorge

    23 kilometers away from downtown Qingyuan, Feilai Gorge is a traditional attraction site with spectacular caves, forests, purple bamboos and clear waters.
