Chongqing is a world famous mountain city surrounded by mountains in the north, east and south. It is also located where the Yangtze River and Jialing River meet, which creates a humid climate. During spring and winter, it's very foggy, winning the city the nickname "Capital of Fog." It is very hot in summer and is considered one of China's three furnace cities in the Yangtze River area. As one of China's four municipalities directly under the Central Government, Chongqing is the biggest industrial and commercial city in southwest China. It's also a very scenic city. Qutang Gorge and Wuxia Gorge, two of the three most famous gorges in the Yangtze River, provide astonishing views of nature. The stone carvings in Dazu County date from the Tang and Song Dynasties and are listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Chongqing, a city you and your child will be proud to visit!
